Veena Mankar, Founder & Chairperson
Ms. Veena Mankar, the founder of Swadhaar has over 4 decades of experience in financial services, with banks, non-banking financial institutions and as a strategy consultant. Ms. Mankar has worked in India and Dubai. Her expertise has been in trade and structured finance, including factoring and forfaiting, finance for SME’s and microfinance.
Ms.Mankar started her corporate career with ICICI Limited (the project finance institution and pre-cursor to ICICI Bank Limited) and during the course of her career has worked with leading international and Indian financial institutions. These include Emirates Bank, Dubai, Banque Indo Suez Aval, UK, West LB Germany, Standard Bank of South Africa and FIMBank Malta.
She serves as an Independent Director on the Boards of Liberty Videocon General Insurance Company Limited and IDFC Bank Limited. In the past she has been on the Boards of Factoring entities in India, Dubai and Egypt and on the Governing Board of Sa-Dhan.
Ms Mankar has a BA in Economics from Lady Shree Ram College, Delhi University, followed by a post-graduation in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad (1973-75). She has travelled extensively and been a trainer and speaker at several national and international forums.
RajaRam Kamath, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. RajaRam Kamath has over 20 years of experience in the areas of sales, distribution and business development. He has significant exposure in building organizations from start-up mode to dominant player/market leader. He has also lead business center operations covering all functions of sales and sales support including training & development, business development, reward and recognition, channel management and customer service in FMCG, Telecom and Life Insurance. Mr. Kamath joined Swadhaar as Chief Executive Officer in November 2011 and is now in charge of the overall day-to-day operations at Swadhaar.
Mr. Kamath graduated with a Bachelors degree in Commerce (distinction) from University of Mysore. He has attended various workshops and knowledge enhancement courses, such as, Leadership skills course for Top Management – ISB Hyderabad, Young Managers Fast Track Development Program at IIMB, Personal Effectiveness Lab – XLRI, QIPM: (Quality Improvement Process Management) and Strategic leadership for Micro Finance - HBS – Accion programme.
Pranav Desai, Chief Finance Officer
Mr. Pranav Desai has over 14 years of experience in financial services industry. He has worked with leading NBFC and HFC within financial services domain. He has experience in Finance and Accounts, IFRS, MIS & Budgeting, Retail Asset Operation, Audits, Taxation, Statutory Compliances and System migration. His experience includes working with Start-up organisation and setting up and stabilising the back up support team, internal control system and processes and policies.
Mr. Desai is a Chartered Accountant by profession.
Madhan Mohan, Head – MSME
Mr. Madhan Mohan leads the MSME vertical of Swadhaar and comes with over 20 Years of experience in the Retail Finance industry with focus on the self-employed segment (Micro and Small Enterprises). He has handled diverse roles encompassing all major functions of Business including Sales, Collections, Credit Policy & Underwriting, Fraud Control, Operations and Strategic Management. Starting his career with Citicorp in Collections he went on to work with ABN AMRO, Fullerton India Ltd., Sahayata Microfinance, Vistaar Finance and RBL Bank. He has been instrumental in setting up new geographical and functional teams within each organization across retail products like Credit Cards, Home Loan, Loan against Properties, Personal Loans, Microfinance and Business Loans.
In the past Mr. Madhan has setup the Small Business Banking vertical in RBL Bank which now services self-employed and independent business owners across the Indian MSME landscape. He joined the Swadhaar MSME business in August 2015 on secondment from RBL Bank.
Mr Madhan has done his PGDBA from Loyola Institute of Business Administration Chennai.
Mukesh Manjkhola, Vice President – Commercial
Mr. Mukesh Manjkhola has experience in the areas of sales, distribution and business development. He joined Swadhaar as General Manager- Commercial in February 2012. Mr. Manjkhola has more than 9 years of experience in Insurance (Training & Development) and a total of 20 years of experience in channel, cluster and team management. Prior to joining Swadhaar, Mr. Manjkhola has worked as a Regional Manager – Gujarat at AEGON Religare Life Insurance Co. Ltd.
Mr. Manjkhola holds a masters degree in Economics from HNB Garhwal University, Dehradun.
Nehal Shah, Vice President – Commercials
Mr. Nehal Shah has experience of over 17 years in the field of Sales & Distribution, Business Development. Mr. Shah has experience in the field of Beverages, Telecom, Insurance and Media spread across western part of India. He has worked with organizations like Coca-Cola India, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Bharti-Axa Life Insurance, Newswire18 Ltd. Prior to joining Swadhaar, he has worked as State Vertical Head with D B Corp Ltd. Mr. Shah joined Swadhaar as Vice President – Commercial in April 2015 looking after Business of Gujarat State.
Mr. Shah holds Post Graduate Management degree from TIMS (Tolani Institute of Management Studies, Adipur, Gujarat) and B.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry from Sardar Patel University, V.V.Nagar Gujarat.
Preeti Telang, Vice President –Customer Service, Client Protection and Training
Ms. Preeti Telang has over 20 years of experience in Development sector specifically in the area of Development Communication. During her career she has developed, designed training modules, conducted Training of Trainers and also conducted a number of communication skills workshops especially for NGO grass root workers. She has experience of working with different marginalised groups like women, street children, sex workers, MSM groups and people living in slum communities.
Since 2008, Ms. Telang has been associated with Swadhaar in providing Financial Education and Financial Inclusion for the urban slum dwellers in Mumbai and Gujarat (India). She was involved in researching, designing and developing the Financial Education Programme for women living in urban slum communities. She is the CEO of associate company Swadhaar FinAccess. She currently leads all the customer protection, social performance initiatives in Swadhaar and also heads the staff training department.
Ms. Telang holds a MBA degree in Social Entrepreneurship from SVKMs NarseeMonjee School of Business Management and Masters of Social Work from Mumbai University.
Pravash Dash, Product Head - MSME
Mr. Pravash Dash has over 12 Years of experience in the areas of Startup Management, Strategy, Innovation & Product Development, Business Development, Sales & Marketing, Operations & Process reengineering in the field of Agriculture and Rural Banking. Mr. Pravash has worked with leading institutions in the Financial Inclusion space, to mention a few, Axis Bank, IFMR Rural Finance and RBL Bank. He has been instrumental in the startup of many new initiatives especially in the field of Financial Inclusion and MSME segments. He was pioneer in setting up Microfinance and Small Business Banking division in RBL Bank. He has also started high standard Business Correspondence network for RBL Bank for lending to rural micro entrepreneurs.
Mr Dash joined the Swadhaar MSME business in August 2015. He is seconded to Swadhaar by RBL Bank. He has setup the Product, IT, Marketing and operations for the business.
Mr. Dash has done his post graduate in Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and also has M.Sc. & B.Sc. degrees in Agriculture.
Pradip Gurav, General Manager - Human Resources
Mr. Pradip Gurav has over 12 years of experience in the various gamut's of Human Resources covering areas of Recruitment, Operations, Compensation & Benefits, HRIS, Employee Engagement & Employee Relations in the Banking & Non-Banking Services sectors. He joined Swadhaar as Head - Human Resources in May 2015. Prior to joining Swadhaar, Mr. Gurav has worked with Mahindra, ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank and Future Capital in various capacities.
Mr. Gurav holds a Masters degree in Human Resources from Mumbai University.
Akash Chelvam, Head – HR, Admin and Learning and Learning and Development - MSME
Mr. Akash Chelvam has diversified experience in Human Resources spanning over 12 years in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Compliance & Governance, Talent Management, Organization Development and Employee Engagement. His experience encompasses various roles across all geographies in India with institutions like HDFC Life, Axis Bank and RBL Bank. He has been part of corporate governance committees, CSR initiatives and change management teams.
Prior to joining the Swadhaar MSME business in September 2015, Mr. Akash was spearheading all HR processes for Agriculture Banking, Development Banking & Financial Inclusion, Financial Literacy, Microfinance and Affordable Financial Institution Banking. His passion for Rural Banking and Financial Inclusion segment made him a key contributor for the setup and expansion of the Small Business Banking at RBL Bank. He was also part of the Learning & Organization Development function, heading the Campus Hiring program and Future Leadership initiatives for the Bank. He is seconded to Swadhaar by RBL Bank.
Mr. Chelvam has a post graduate degree in Human Resources Management and has done his graduation Degree in Arts, he has also undergone various trainings like Six Sigma, ISABS and Dale Carnegie.
S. Pasupathy, Consultant – Risk Management, Quality Control and Internal Audit
Mr. SitaramPasupathy has over 37 years of banking professional experience covering most areas of commercial banking. Before joining Swadhaar, he was working as Deputy Head - Corporate & SME Credit Monitoring & Debt Restructuring in Union Bank of India. His expertise includes in the areas of Debt restructuring, Risk Management, Policies formulation in Credit Monitoring and controls. He also have intensive and exhaustive experience in branch operations and credit processing across entire range of corporate & retail products & credit validation.
Mr. Pasupathy has graduated in Commerce and is a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.
Amit Gupta, Head, Risk - MSME
Mr Amit Gupta heads the MSME Risk department and is seconded to Swadhaar by ACCION, India. At Swadhaar, Mr Gupta heads the Risk department which is primarily responsible for quality credit underwriting for MSME clients. In addition he also supports product development, risk analytics and trainings function.
Mr Gupta comes with 15 years of experience in microfinance (operations), investments, responsible finance initiatives and trainings across variety of organizations like Industries Department, Government of Rajasthan and international non-profits like CARE & ACCION. At Accion, Mr Gupta has worked on diverse programmes. He worked with Smart Campaign, Center for Financial Inclusion as Manager, managing Smart Campaign initiatives in South Asia and South East Asian Countries. He has conducted number of training programs to increase awareness about Client Protection Principles and conducted large number of Smart Assessments in the regions. Mr Gupta also worked as Investment Officer with ACCION India managing ACCION direct investments in Indian MFIs and other investee companies. Mr Gupta is a certified trainer from International Labour Organisation to conduct “Making Microfinance Work program” a managerial capacity building program for MFI managers. In addition he has conducted range of training programs in the areas of Leadership development, Training of Trainers and Financial Analysis.
Mr Gupta holds a Masters degree in Social Policy & Planning from London School of Economics and Political Science and Masters in Social Policy & Planning from Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal India.
Anshu Mohta, Company Secretary
Ms. Anshu Mohta is a trained professional in secretarial, legal and corporate affairs and working as Company Secretary for Swadhaar since 2008. She is an associate member of Institute of Company Secretaries of India and is a Gold Medalist (LLB) from Pt. Ravishankar University.
Ms. Mohta has over 10 years of varied and rich experience in areas of Compliances (both Legal and Statutory), IPO, Private Placement of Equity, Formulation of ESOP, Listing Agreement Compliances, Foreign Direct Investment in Unlisted Companies and Due Diligence for Private Investment.
